Song: Alone
Artist: Ray Wilson
This is the second article on my neighborhood Autumn trike ride with Bandi.
Again...
I will be using this one song for the whole series of three articles
because it was what had played through my mind as I rode through the mountains.
I especially love the flute playing in the song.
It is the sound of the mountains in full color.
The way it accents and leads the melody in certain portions is just so fulfilling to hear.
I find natural beauty and music to be so inspiring.
It leads the mind to a possible beautiful future...
which then lays the direction and path for positive action...
to actually effect the envisioned positive result.
This is living life.
---------
Why trike through the mountains when I could just drive?
Because...
I am far more connected with my surroundings...
not just because I may feel the wind upon my face...
not just because I may experience the full uninhibited sights and sounds
as my peripheral vision is un-occluded...
and the only sounds coming from my trike are the hushed tones of its tires on the road...
the slight humming and crushing of gravel in rhythm with my breathing...
so I may hear the birds and the wind in the trees.
And...
also because...
I may experience the exhilaration of deep and relaxed diaphragmatic breathing
which comes from moderate exertion.
Once I get into a rhythm of motion...
the world seems to blend with my movements...
and it all becomes a state of Zen.
Everything I see and hear...
I feel...
and every sensation becomes amplified...
and all seems to come alive.
Colors bring about a deep sensation of pure joy
as they blend with the music of the mind...
and life itself takes on a value in those moments
which makes any and all earlier sacrifices worth it.
Each color...
and of how the light is either reflected or illuminated from behind...
each gradient within and of how the different colors had accented each other...
of how around each bend in the road had brought about new and welcome
patterns of colors and textures...
made me a young child once again...
a fertile mind of absolute wonder at the beauty of the world...
and a mind filled with excitement at things to come...
in what was around the next bend...
on the mountain...
and in life.
I say it again...
my ride was one of pure magic.
I am back on the main road leading towards home...
but with a ways still to go...
and all of it uphill.
Bandi's last water break.
We took many breaks...
not only to rest...
but so I could take more photos.
We were going up my mountain ridge line.
As we were going up the steepest incline...
we took more frequent breaks for Bandi.
----------
In the last article...
after arriving home...
and as I was typing up the first article...
I caught a beautiful sunset from my third floor deck.
The last photos of my trike journey and of this sunset
will be in the last installment of this series.
